All about subsidies for sustainable projects

SDE++

The SDE++ scheme (Stimulation of Sustainable Energy Production and Climate Transition) supports projects that generate sustainable energy or contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions. It is an operational subsidy: you receive funding over a period of 12 or 15 years based on the actual amount of sustainable energy produced or CO₂ reduction achieved.

The scheme reimburses the difference between the cost price of sustainable energy and the market price. If the energy price drops, you receive more subsidy; if it rises, you receive less. The technology you use—such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, residual heat, or heat pumps—largely determines the subsidy amount per unit produced. SDE++ not only encourages sustainable production but also makes investments in installations with longer payback periods financially viable.

Who is SDE++ for?
The SDE++ scheme is intended for companies, institutions, and (semi-)government bodies that invest on a large scale in sustainable energy generation or deploy technologies that contribute to CO₂ reduction. Examples include solar parks, heat pump systems, biomass installations, or innovative industrial processes. The scheme is particularly relevant for organizations with high energy consumption or sustainability challenges.
