Everything about subsidies for sustainable projects

WIS

The heat networks investment subsidy (WIS) is designed to encourage the development of efficient heat networks. This subsidy specifically targets projects that are not financially viable without support but are ready to start quickly.

The scheme reimburses part of the investment costs for heat networks with connections up to and including 100 kW in existing homes and buildings. This enables the retrofit market to be supplied with sustainable heat in a future-proof way.

The subsidy can be used for:

  • Construction costs, including project management

  • Direct labor costs related to installation

  • Costs for primary and secondary networks, including heat transfer stations

  • Legal costs, permit applications, and consultancy

  • Engineering, design, and preliminary studies such as soil or archaeological research

  • Environmental coordination, including alignment with other infrastructure

  • Procurement and tendering

All costs must be incurred during the project period and paid directly by the applicant.

Who is WIS for?
The scheme is intended for entrepreneurs investing in the development of a heat network for existing buildings. This includes housing associations, energy companies, or partnerships that play a clear role in implementing the infrastructure. The heat network must be built in areas with small-scale consumer connections (≤100 kW) and enable a collective, sustainable heating solution.
